Fast fashion brands produce new clothing at hyper speed and in tandem with a super short trend cycle. To create room for the new clothing, "old" clothing is sold to liquidators, shipped to the global south (where our waste problem becomes someone else's), or dumped directly into landfills.

Canary in a Goldmine works with trusted liquidators for access to shelf-pulls and customer returns that won't be sold on the selling floor of traditional department stores. We also source local secondhand shops to scoop up the best pieces and get them available to more people online - saving them from ending up in a landfill!

New With Tags (NWT) items have original tags attached and typically have not been worn.

Pre-loved items are secondhand and are typically in Excellent Used Condition (EUC). However, items may show signs of general wear. All flaws will be disclosed in the product description and photos.

Vintage items include anything made before 2006. The year or decade will usually be listed in the product description, as well as any flaws or signs of wear.

Being committed to sustainable fashion means that we don't want you feeling stuck with clothing that you won't wear! Please remember that overconsumption of secondhand clothing is still overconsumption.

Our goal is to keep textiles out of landfills as long as possible, and we encourage you to make thoughtful and intentional purchases on your sustainable fashion journey!

If your item arrives damaged or with flaws that were not described or shown in the listing, we will issue a store credit or refund to the card used to purchase the item. We will pay for and provide the shipping label.

If you'd like to return the item due to fit or simply changing your mind, we can issue a store credit or refund to the card used to purchase the item. We will provide the shipping label and deduct the shipping cost from your store credit or refund.
